Glowing Water è un corpo illuminante con diffusore in vetro contenente una miscela di acqua, sapone e candeggina. Questa miscela rifrange la luce permettendone una maggiore diffusione, anche nel caso in cui alla lampadina si sostituisce una candela. L'idea nasce pensando alle popolazioni dei paesi in via di sviluppo, dove troppo spesso elettricità ed illuminazione mancano. Il progetto quindi prevede la produzione delle lampade in Italia (o nei paesi sviluppati) e due tipi di distribuzione: la versione con lampadina verrebbe venduta nel luogo dove viene prodotta e il ricavato permetterebbe di finanziare la distribuzione della versione con candela nei paesi in via di sviluppo.


Glowing Water si affiancherebbe al progetto "Isang Litrong Liwanag", ovvero "Un litro di luce", dell'organizzazione no-profit My Shelter Foundation, che si occupa di portare la luce in luoghi in cui non arriverebbe nemmeno durante il giorno, se non con l'utilizzo dell'elettricità, come nel caso delle baracche in lamiera. L'idea consiste nel praticare un foro sul tetto dove incastrare una bottiglia di plastica in cui è presente la soluzione di acqua e candeggina, che diffonde una luce paragonabile a quella prodotta da una lampadina da 55W.


L'unione dei due progetti permetterebbe di sfruttare al massimo la luce naturale durante il giorno e la luce della candela durante la notte, senza utilizzare elettricità.

Glowing Water is an illuminating body with glass diffuser containing a mixture of water, soap and bleach. This mixture refracts the light allowing it a wider diffusion, even if you were to substitute the light bulb with a candle. The project was born after considering the lighting needs of developing countries, where electricity is often absent. The plan is to produce lamps in Italy (or any developed country) and then have two types of distribution: the light bulb version would be sold in the country where it is produced; the money raised this way would then be used to fund the distribution of the candle version in developing countries.


Glowing Water would go alongside the "Isang Litrong Liwanag" project, or "A liter of light", by non-profit organization My Shelter Foundation, which aims to bring light to places where there would not ordinarily be any light, even at daytime, had there not been electricity in use. This is the case of the plated sheds. The idea would be to pierce a hole in the roof where a bottle, containing the water and bleach mixture, would be placed. This mixture would allow a light diffusion comparable to that of a 55w bulb.


The collaboration between the two projects would let the full potential of natural light (during the day) and candle lighting (at night) be exploited - without using electricity at all.
